John Michael Kledis, EA, CFE, CVA

President at Peridot Consulting, Inc.

An Asheville native, accounting is in John Michael’s blood. He’s been a second-generation accountant for over 20 years which eventually led to starting his own firm. John Michael realized early on he wanted to separate himself out from operating as a traditional accounting firm with lots of paper and calculators. Instead, Peridot Consulting functions paperless, utilizing modern technology software.

John Michael’s core competence is working with small businesses. He’s been doing business tax, and fraud consulting since early 2003. As Peridot’s president, he’s a shareholder and is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service, as an Enrolled Agent. As it that isn’t enough, he also serves as Peridot’s Certified Fraud Examiner, and a Certified Valuation Analyst. In addition to overseeing the many facets involved in operating an accounting firm, he strategically implements business strategies from creation to ongoing business concerns, business and individual tax, tax representation, business planning, certified business valuations, and fraud prevention and examinations. He’s also a QuickBooks Online Certified ProAdvisor.

As an accountant, he most enjoys interacting with clients as a trusted advisor. He thrives on building client relationships and helping people navigate the ups and downs of their financial lives. He says client services is the most important to him and he works to make their services accessible, empathetic and efficient.

He attended East Tennessee State University where he obtained a double major in Accounting and Marketing and is currently, and formerly, on numerous not-for-profit, and city boards/committees. He’s a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents; the North Carolina Society of Enrolled Agents; the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners; and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts and stays up to date on processes and procedures through pursuing continuing education each year.

He's married with three children and when he’s not working he enjoys family time – playing board games, cooking and taking walks with the family dog. He swims every morning which gets him revved and ready for each day.
