Not only is Peridot Consulting excited to onboard Barney’s vast accounting skills but his track record for a certain level of professionalism, integrity, honesty and transparency as well.
Barney Holtzman is a Licensed Certified Public Accountant and Certified Global Management Accountant with more than a decade of extensive financial operations experience and accounting management. Most recently, Barney spent 10+ years making his way to Vice President of an international mining company, The Quartz Corp, a European joint venture company with key operations in Spruce Pine, NC, home to a world-renowned quartz reserve producing the purest quartz on the globe. Barney developed, implemented and maintained financial guidelines and operations through high-level professionalism. He is best known for his resourceful problem-solving skills while remaining a compassionate team leader and is always working hard for his people.
What is Barney's role at Peridot Consulting? Barney will be establishing himself in the lead role of Peridot’s CFO services now being offered to a variety of local businesses who find themselves with a financial need. There is a multitude of reasons why it would be beneficial for a growing company to hire an outside CFO rather than hire an in-house CFO, the main reason being is that it's more affordable in the long run. This is where Peridot and Barney step in to help, partnering with owners and CEOs to assess your company’s financial patterns, budget analysis, manage all the risks involved then eventually forecasting and planning for the future.
Barney grew up in Blacksburg, Virginia, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Ohio University. After college, Barney lived and worked for a few years in Philadelphia then moved across the country to California where he continued his education while working full time as an accountant and analysis in San Francisco. After completing the education requirements for the CPA exam at City College of San Francisco and finishing his business and accounting education at UC Berkley with a specialization in business financial analysis, he earned his CPA certification. Thereafter, Barney and his partner Robin Johnston, while pregnant with their first child, decided to relocate back across the country from California to Western North Carolina when Robin, a fiber artist, was awarded a 3-year residency at the prestigious Penland School of Crafts.
Since then, she and Barney have grown their family, they now have two boys. Just as so many Asheville locals do, Barney and his family enjoy the Asheville food scene, cooking at home together, playing his guitar, and is an avid runner.
