Meet Noriko Shokita
Updated: Feb 17, 2021

Meet Noriko Shokita, Peridot Consulting’s newest junior accountant and Quickbooks Certified ProAdvisor. Noriko joined our Peridot Consulting firm in January 2021 to pursue her professional career as a future Certified Public Accountant. Born and raised in Okinawa, Japan, where she grew up with a younger sister and an older brother, she is very excited and proud to be studying and working here in the United States. It’s allowed her to go after her dreams of becoming a professional accountant because she is enthusiastic about a promising career in the business world of finance and accounting.
Noriko first traveled to the United States as a high school exchange student which landed her in New Mexico for a year of high school before returning to Okinawa where she graduated with her friends. Fortunately for her, the University of Maryland had a satellite campus in her hometown, so she applied and was accepted to the university where she continued to pursue a degree in business.

In August of 2019, she returned to the US, specifically Jacksonville, NC, to continue her last year attending the University of Maryland where she graduated with a degree in Accounting. Working as an entry-level account with Peridot will allow her time to gain experience and study for the CPA certification exam. Noriko understands that accepting this opportunity to work for Peridot Consulting will allow her to grow her skills using bookkeeping software programs such as Quickbooks, as well as, other hands-on professional accounting projects.
In her free time, Norkio loves to travel. What have been her favorite places so far? Korea and Canada. When she was a young girl in Japan, she often visited Korea where she fell in love with the modern culture which inspired her to continue traveling west to Canada and the United States. One of the things she loved most about visiting Vancouver and Banff, Canada besides the beautiful landscape - it allowed her to work on improving her English.
Noriko is grateful to have grown up in Okinawa, Japan, which she says is as beautiful as Hawaii. Not only was she a star student, always passing critical school exams, but some of her favorite hobbies as a young girl were competitive sports such as basketball and hip-hop dancing. As a teenager, she even had the opportunity to dance in local competitions which only increased her love for dancing although she finds less time to do it now.
What is Noriko hoping to gain from her time working with the Peridot Consultants?
As an entry-level accountant, Noriko understands that this is a valuable opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. She is focused on her number one goal, taking and passing the CPA exam, as well as, growing her professionalism for bookkeeping + accounting and learning as much as she can for her bright future as an accountant.
